The fundamental purpose of education is to give all students the best possible opportunities and support to achieve their highest potential – in school, in the workplace and in life. More than ever before, we live in a rapidly changing world where work requires a mastery of advanced academic, and career and technical skills. The opportunities available through FCCLA address a variety of ways that support Illinois educational initiatives.
Participation in competitive events allows students to demonstrate what they know and are able to do. Participation also provides student/members with experiences to learn how to organize a project, work and learn with others and have pride in accomplishment. The Illinois Proficiency Events and National STAR (Students Taking Action for Recognition) Events add value to the Family and Consumer Sciences classroom by challenging students to take responsibility for learning and preparing them for success in the 21st Century.
